A Florida woman with an accent was denied a prize on Wheel Of Fortune for mispronouncing the word 'swimming'. She drooped the G and pronounced it 'swimmin'.
According to
Florida Today, last Wednesday Renee Durette said she was ready to solve the puzzle and stated the phrase 'Seven swans a-swimmin."
According to
Fox, because Durette did not pronounce the G in swimming, she went on to lose the game and she lost out on almost $4,000.
According to
ABC, judges said that they could not accept her answer because the answer was spoken in vernacular.
The judges' decision sparked outrage on Twitter. The outcome didn't go Durette's way but she said that she had a wonderful experience on the show.
