A BBC reporter has infiltrated a meeting of Golden Dawn members and made a recording which implicates Chryafgites in the assault on SYRIZA MP Dimitris Stratoulis.
Digital Journal reported Dimitris Stratoulis claimed three members of Golden Dawn (Chrysi Avgi) launched a murderous assault on him last Sunday, a claim vigorously denied by Golden Dawn.
On their website Golden Dawn announced their intent to sue Stratoulis for libel after characterizing the party as a "criminal gang."
However, the recording of BBC reporter Tim Franks, aired on Radio 5, suggests Golden Dawn members were involved in the attack.
The recording reveals a party member saying: "First of all, I want to express my displeasure about some of the newer members of Golden Dawn, who are all about shouting and being provocative. Three of them were beating up that poor fellow for half an hour and didn’t even succeed in leaving a lump on his head. That’s shameful."
According to Proto Thema the speaker was the party's deputy John Hare.
However, Golden Dawn strenously deny being involved in the attack on Stratoulis, claiming such reports are a slanderous attack on the party.
