Sanaa - Three foreign tourists were kidnapped in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on Friday by gunmen suspected of belonging to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
Al Arabiya reported a Yemeni official confirmed “Four masked gunmen in a vehicle attacked a shop in central Sanaa and abducted three foreign tourists -- a woman and two men." The trio were kidnapped from an electronics store.
As more details emerged it transpired the three foreigners were Arabic students from Finland and Austria. According to Yahoo no one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping or claimed a ransom but it is believed the gunmen are affiliated with al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
Foreigners are often kidnapped in Yemen but usually released unharmed.
