A star-studded red carpet event for the Australian premiere of Les Misérables took over Pitt Street Mall in Sydney on Friday night (21 December 2012).
Pitt Street Mall, a pedestrianised street covering one block in the heart of the Sydney’s main shopping area, was packed with shoppers doing last minute Christmas shopping. The red carpet stretched along the entire length of Pitt Street mall.
A choir entertained the crowds before the start of the red carpet event hosted by Kerri-Anne Kennerley.
Local celebrities (including a few politicians) walked the red carpet first, along with those attending the premiere, followed by some of the cast and movie-makers of Les Misérables, namely Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Tom Hooper, Sir Cameron Mackintosh, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
The red carpet is being constructed along Pitt Street Mall in Sydney – crowds begin to gather around.
