Most excellent news for the Greek elite who engaged in a spot of tax evasion, as MPs voted against any further investigation into the by now infamous Lagarde List.
The main Greek opposition party SYRIZA had requested Parliament’s institutions and transparency committee probed further into the controversial
Lagarde List, containing the names of around 2,000 wealthy Greeks who had squirreled funds away in a Swiss bank. However, they were voted down by seven votes to six, according to
Ekathimerini.
The decision does not preclude further investigation into the list at some future point. The Democratic Left have suggested Parliament sets up an investigative committee.
Golden Dawn (Chrysi Avgi) have
stated that their MP on the committee mistakenly voted against further probes and has now asked for his vote to be changed.
