Ian Watkins, the lead singer of the British rock band Lostprophets, appeared in court on Wednesday after being charged with child sex offenses, which include conspiring with a woman to rape a 1-year-old girl.
Prosecutors say that Watkins, 35, is accused of conspiring to engage in sexual touching with two children, as well as possessing, making and even distributing images that were indecent. According to Washington Post, Watkins is also being accused of possessing extreme animal pornography.
According to The Guardian, police also said that two women, 20 and 24, were also charged with similar offenses and were due to show up in court. Police said that the two women and Watkins were questioned at Cardiff Bay police station.
According to ContactMusic, the rest of the band released a statement on their website, and it said that the band was in a state of shock. They went onto say that they are still learning the details about the case. They said that it is a difficult time for them and they appreciate the support their fans are showing them as they seek answers.
Watkins was refused bail and so was the two women. The Lostprophets burst onto the scene back in 1997 and since then the band has sold over 3 million albums.
