article imageChristian Legal Centre prays away sin

By Alexander Baron     Dec 20, 2012 in World
Brixton - How would you stop a lap dancing club opening in your neighbourhood? You might organise a petition, write to your MP, bribe a councillor...or you could get down on your knees and pray, brothers and sisters.
Christian Concern is a campaigning organisation, and unsurprisingly it has a legal department, well, a fully blown legal centre actually. One of its concerns is the preservation of marriage, something that is now being alluded to as traditional marriage as though there were any other kind. Being a Christian organisation, Christian Concern takes a rather straight-laced view of sex. No jokes about the missionary position please. In particular, Christian Concern would like to keep it in the bedroom, and certainly does not want to see sexual acts - simulated or otherwise - being treated as entertainment in residential areas. Last year, the organisation successfully opposed an application for a lap dancing club in Oxford that was to have opened yards from a church.
More recently, it had a similar victory in Lambeth, South London. According to the good people themselves, Lambeth Council sat into the small hours of December 20 before finally throwing out an application for a lap dancing establishment in residential Brixton.
"Thank you for praying for last night’s hearing. We praise God that He has granted another victory!"
Hmm, with God on their side as well as Lambeth Council, how can they lose?
But just in case, they aren't taking any chances, so if you want to oppose lap dancing clubs in your area, you can download their free guide from here.
Amen!
