article imageOp-Ed: The warring White Tribes of Northern Ireland

By Alexander Baron     Dec 20, 2012 in Politics
Over the past half century and more the people of Britain have been deluged with propaganda by the race lobby reminding us what evil, intolerant bigots we are. Take a hop across the sea to Belfast, and you'll see what bigotry really means.
You don't have to look far to find all manner of for the most part manipulated or outright bogus statistics that testify to the innate bigotry of the white natives of these islands. Smiley Culture who committed suicide during a police raid on his home, was a victim of racism or even murder. The police stop and search far too many blacks; Asians are under-represented in football (probably because most of them play cricket), and so on.
There are genuine victims of white bigots, such as Kelso Cochrane who was stabbed to death in London in 1959. Three decades and more later, the murder of the black youth Stephen Lawrence was milked for all it was worth by race agitators; it remains to be seen if this 18 year old was murdered simply because he was black, if there was some other motive, or if he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, but the failure of the police to bring his killers to book led to a massive campaign directed not only at those accused of the killing but all manner of other nonsense and campaigns, including a successful attempt to undermine the rule of law in England by the abolition of double jeopardy.
The reality is there have been probably no more than a couple of dozen racially motivated murders in Britain over a period of perhaps forty or fifty years, far fewer than the number of sex killings and child murders like those carried out by Brady and Hindley, Robert Black or Ian Huntley. And let's not mention those racist murders that never happened, like the 1964 Mesifta fire or the New Cross fire, the massacre that never was.
The same cannot be said alas of Northern Ireland where the two indistinguishable white tribes of Loyalist Protestants and Republican Catholics have been bombing, maiming and murdering each other since the 1960s.
The history of this Sectarian feud goes back a lot further of course, further than the founding of the Fenian Brotherhood in the USA at a time when the whole of Ireland was ruled by England. Indeed at one time, Pretenders to the English throne - Lambert Simnel and Perkin Warbeck - sought the support of Ireland for their ill-fated causes.
From 1867 when the Fenians exploded a bomb at Clerkenwell, North London, there have been sporadic campaigns to bring the war for Irish independence to Britain, the height of this madness was the so-called Troubles, when from 1973 the Provisional IRA exploded numerous bombs on the Mainland, mostly in London, but one in particular, planted at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, in October 1984, came close to wiping out almost the entire British Government. At the end of the day, five people were killed and many more injured.
There have been pockets of Sectarian bigotry in both England and Scotland, including that directed at football team manager Neil Lennon. Without a doubt though, the overwhelming majority of the victims of this Sectarian nonsense have been Irish: Protestant and Catholic.
It was hoped that with the so-called Peace Process, the killings would end; for the most part they have. Unpalatable though it may have been for British politicians to sit down with the likes of Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness, they did, and genuine progress has been made. There are though, those who wish to continue with the so-called armed struggle, splinter groups and so-called dissident Republicans such as the Continuity IRA and the Real IRA. In March 2009, Catholic police officer Stephen Carroll was murdered in a calculated act of depravity. He answered an emergency call in the full knowledge that it may have been a trap. Last November, another Catholic police officer Ronan Kerr was murdered. So not only does Catholic kill Protestant and vice versa but Catholic kills Catholic, and at times Protestant kills Protestant.
Most recently, a prison officer was shot dead as he drove to work. David Black was 52 years old and was shortly to retire. These men, and countless others, including women and children died for what? Ostensibly to bring about a United Ireland, one that like the United Kingdom will be ruled by a coalition of big banks and their political lapdogs; one that like Britain will be a police state where, as in the capital, the average person is caught on 300 or more CCTV cameras a day; one where you can be arrested, dragged into court and fined for protesting peacefully against war and occupation, as was Azhar Ahmed; or where like the now sadly defunct Catford Centre for the Unemployed, you can be dragged into court for giving a man an interview for a job.
At the moment, there is an enormous kerfuffle going on in Belfast over the flying of the Union Jack. The Republicans want to get rid of this and every other manifestation of English rule.
The greatest irony is that while the nationalists are fighting to "liberate" their country from the hated British, they are being quietly colonised by the back door.
In the first two months of 2010, no fewer than ten thousand immigrants flooded into the Irish Republic, including:
NON EU
Australia - 118
Brazil - 563
Canada-107
China -139
Mauritus - 99
Nigeria - 102
Pakistan - 102
USA - 390
While many of these come to Ireland as students, workers, business people or tourists and will in due course return home, others come for the duration. By the time the nationalists/Republicans succeed in "liberating" Ireland, it will probably no longer be recognisable as such. As the man said, be careful what you wish for.
