IGN Entertainment has released a preview video for the upcoming role-playing game called "Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White White." The video provides the emotional and tear jerking beginning that sets up the game's story.
IGN Entertainment has released a preview video for the upcoming role-playing game called “Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch” which is due for a North American release on January 22, 2013. This game is a collaboration between Level-5 which is known for the popular “Professor Layton” puzzle games along with working with Capcom for the crossover game called “Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney” and Studio Ghibli which is known for many great works such as “Howl's Moving Castle,” “Spirited Away,” “Grave of the Fireflies,” “Princess Mononoke,” “Ponyo,” “Tales from Earthsea,” and many others.
The game graphics come from the animation of Studio Ghibli. In the game Ni no Kuni takes place in two worlds: the real world and the family world. You take on the role of a young boy named Oliver who lives with his single mother Alie in the American town in Motorville. The relationship with each other is close and loving which plays a very important role in the story. According to IGN, which does the commentary, it seemingly takes place in the 1950s. The story starts off with Oliver and his best friend Phillip test driving the latter's new experimental hot rod.
Alie saves Oliver from drowning; but, she ends up getting hospitalized due to overexciting herself which takes a toll of her weak heart. Sadly, which can be a tear jerking moment, Alie passes away and Oliver is an orphan. This sets up the story for the game when a doll, given to Oliver by his mother years before, comes to live by making contact with Oliver's tears. The doll comes to life as male fairy named Drippy.

According to Drippy, Oliver might be able to find and rescue his mother by venturing into the world of Ni no Kuni. Wanting to bring back his mother, Oliver and Drippy cross into the parallel world. According to the video, the two of them will jump back and forth between worlds through the game. This concept is similar to Squaresoft's “Chrono Trigger” and “Chrono Cross” where players respectively travel back & forth between time lines and parallel worlds.
So far, watching this previous trailer alone can be enough for anybody to get emotional. Originally, this game is available for the Nintendo 3DS; but, that's for Japanese owners. The North American version of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is exclusive for the Playstation 3. Level-5 and Studio Ghibli co-develop the game while Namco Bandai publishes the game.
Days earlier, IGN Entertainment released a behind-the-scenes video of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The video went behind-the-scenes at Level-5 games located in Fukuoka, Japan. In short, a lot of hard work and dedication from all sides have been put forth into this game.
