article imageEnd of a North Korean era: Kim Il-Jong stops looking at things

By Paul Bradbury     Dec 17, 2012 in Odd News
Pyongyang - A highly original blog about late North Korean leader Kim Il-Jong finally runs out of material on the anniversary of his death.
The Internet became a poorer place on December 17, 2012, as the cult blog dedicated to the observations of the late Kim Jong-Il finally ran out of material.
The theme of the blog, which started in December 2010 and had almost 60,000 fans by the time of its final post, was simple in its theme which was described in the title of the blog, Kim Jong-Il looking at things

The blog started innocuously enough in December 2010, with the posting of a picture of then North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il looking at a boat, an unremarkable picture in itself, but one which was to be repeated regularly and hilariously, as more people tuned in to what the Great Leader would look at next.

The appeal of the blog was hard to pin down, as the owner freely admitted:
"It does exactly what it says on the tin. pictures of Kim Jong-Il. looking at things. Why is it so funny? I have no idea either."

At the height of the site's popularity, the unthinkable happened - Kim Il-Jong passed away, a year ago today.

With a post two days later, "Here's looking at you Kim", the blog owner decided to continue with the project until his material was exhausted, which finally happened today, with the final picture of Kim looking at a pig. The final post had attracted more than 2,400 Facebook likes by the time this article was published.
Lest Kim affectionados get withdrawal symptoms, the blog has produced a 192-page book of the photo collection.
