Man in Mitt Romney mask robs Virginia bank

By JohnThomas Didymus     Dec 14, 2012 in Crime
A man wearing a Mitt Romney mask robbed a Wells Fargo bank branch in Sterling, Va., on Thursday morning, reports say. The same bank location was robbed in 2010 by a man in a Hillary Clinton mask.
According to the NBC Washington, the man wore a mask and a Florida State sweatshirt. Brandishing a gun, he went to a teller, demanded and got cash. Instead of grabbing the money and making a quick getaway, he went through five tellers, a total of five, demanding and receiving cash.
The Washington Post reports that the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office released the image of the suspect above. He is identified as a male. He entered the bank located in Sterling's Community Plaza at about 10:20 a.m.
He escaped after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say no one was injured in the incident.
According to The Huffington Post, in 2010, at the same location, then a Wachovia branch, a man robbed the bank in a Hillary Clinton mask. Recall that Hillary Clinton also lost the presidential race to Obama as Mitt Romney.
The Washington Post reports that Liz Mills, a sheriff's office spokeswoman, said the suspect in the 2010 robbery was never apprehended. She said it is still uncertain whether the two cases are related.
Gawker reports that the police are investigating the case. They are investigating outlets for any suspicious case of anyone who bought a Mitt Romney mask recently. The NY Daily News reports that police have asked staff at a Party City store near the bank if anyone bought one of their Romney masks recently.
