What would you like to drink today? Don't tell me, tell it to the droid that's serving it to you! Thanks to the latest technological advancements, robots are projected to serve drinks on planes.
The Skytender by Skymax, an European company, has found a way to serve beverages 30,000 miles in the air.
Originally reported by Mashable, the Skytender operates with the same trolley system many flight attendants are using today except for a number of modifications. Imagine the all you can drink fast food drink dispensers and place that on this trolley, but with 15 drinks to choose from in both hot and cold.
Drinks can range from the popular selections of soda pop, water, tea, coffee, and even wine. The trolley can hold up to eight gallons of water, which can be used both hot and cold, poured or mixed depending on the customer's preference.
SkyMax outlines the benefits and technology:
- hot and cold beverage dispenser
- prepares juices, soft drinks and cocktails
- fast service
- adheres to the highest hygienic standards
- easy to use with minimal training
- perfect dosage means cost savings and quality assurance
- electrically operated
- touch-panel selection
- tube insert system
- beverage and syrup cartridges
- streamlined components
- interlocking appliances and trolleys
According to Mashable, this trolley system has been tested on Germain ADL Airline and is expected to operate on many others in the near future. However, the current trolley system is only available and designed to serve a small passenger airline. Design and model may change in order to accompany larger airlines.
