Conservative media pundit Glenn Beck, who recently tried to auction an Obama figure dipped in fake urine, has hooked up with actor Vince Vaughn to produce a new reality TV series called “Pursuit of the Truth.”
Beck announced his partnership with Vaughn and Peter Billingsley’s Wild West Productions, as well as Gary Auerbach’s Go Go Luckey Entertainment, on the
Glenn Beck Radio Program Wednesday morning,
glennbeck.com states.
"I am proud to announce that Vince Vaughn and I are going to be the executive producers," Beck said, according to
Politico. "That should make everybody's head spin. What the hell is Vince Vaughn doing with a crazy man? I know, that's what my friends say. Glenn, what are you doing with the crazy man Vince Vaughn? Yes. It's great, isn't it? I love it."
During a ten-week production period, 20 documentary filmmakers of all walks of life will compete to win financing ($200,000) and worldwide distribution for their feature documentary films.
Casting applications are being accepted until Jan. 31, 2013. Those applying will be expected “to not only prove the validity of their idea for a documentary but also their film-making abilities,” the series
website says. "They will either survive or be eliminated based on that criteria."
Joel Cheatwood, President and Chief Creative Officer for TheBlaze, added: “The documentary film, particularly those that seek the truth with no agenda, is an important art form that is struggling to survive in this media environment.”
The nine episode series debuts on Beck’s TheBlaze TV in late Spring 2013, glennbeck.com says.
