Konami has released some new game play trailers for its upcoming game "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" which is the latest installment of the Metal Gear series.
Konami has released a new trailer for its upcoming next installment of the “Metal Gear” series called “Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.” The storyline of Revengeance takes place a couple of years after the events of “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.” Instead of playing as Solid Snake, the titular protagonist of the series, you play as Raiden who is somewhat the star of “Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.” In MGR: Revengeance, Raiden is a cyborg working with a private military contractor (PMC) called Maverick Enterprises which is tasked with taking out a rival PMC called Desperado Enterprises.
Finding out he has a family, as told in MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots, Raiden becomes a mercenary to raise money to support his girlfriend and son. It was revealed back in MGS 4 that Raiden got converted into a cyborg. In MGR: Revengeance, Raiden is outfitted with a more powerful cyborg body.
No Metal Gear game is complete without an actual “Metal Gear.” In one of the latest trailers, it shows that Raiden will come up against a Metal Gear Ray model. MG Ray originated from MGS 2: Sons of Liberty and would make its comeback in MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots. The game play in fighting MG Ray is different from how one fights it in the previous games. Due to Raiden being a powerful cyborg and MGR: Revengeance being more action-oriented than stealth-oriented, fighting MG Ray becomes a cinematic action packed battle.
Also, Konami released another trailer showing game play against a new enemy called the Mafutisu which seems inspired by gorillas.
MG4: Revengeance comes out on February 19, 2013. It will be available for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. Unlike the previous MGS games, this game will revolve around the use of the katana for most of the game play combat.
