Byrd's festive cookie shop was filled with cookie connoisseurs eager to take advantage of National Cookie Day deals, sample the mouth-watering treats, and take some home for the holidays.
December 4 is National Cookie Day and the event is being celebrated across America from Massachusetts to Michigan.
In Savannah, Ga. the place to be on National Cookie Day was at Byrd's where they've been baking luscious cookies since 1924. WSAV reported that Byrd's would celebrate by "offering some loyal customers a sweet deal." The deal included selling one pound bags of cookies for only $10, regularly $15.95, and giving away cookie ornaments to the first 100 customers.
This reporter arrived on the scene in the afternoon and found the Byrd Cookie Company parking lot full of cars, and many shoppers were inside the beautifully decorated store on Waters Ave. Red Poinsettias, Christmas trees, ornaments, and items from the Holiday Cookie Shop made the atmosphere wondrous and festive.

Among the choices are Chocolate Macaroon, Ginger Snaps, Red Velvet, Scotch Oatmeal, Triple Chocolate Cookies, and Key Lime Coolers, which Byrd's describes as "A quintessential Southern dessert, the rich taste of Key lime pie has long been enjoyed at many a picnic, dinner and social gathering. Bursting with this same, fresh Key lime flavor, our award-wining cookies capture the tart-but-sweet taste and pleasing crunch of this much-loved delicacy." The Key Lime Coolers are, in fact, their best selling cookie.
