The R.E.M. co-founder composer and guitarist takes a few moments to answer five questions where he turns us onto the future of the Todos Santos Music Festival, some news on The Minus Five and hot new tracks from The Tame Impalas.
DJ Do you have any plans to expand The Todos Santos Music Festival in 2013 or 2014?
PB: We've added many new artists and events for January 2013 including a band from Mexico City and we are happy with the level the festival is now.
This is a very manageable level for us to work at.
We will see how things go in 2013 when we look to the future.
The Minus 5DJ:: Are the Minus 5 preparing a new record?
PB: The Minus Five were just in the studio on November 27/12 working on a record that will be released in 2013
It's pretty psychedelic so far.
DJ: Are you producing any new artists?
PB:: I did produce a lot of records back in the 80's and early 90's. But it sure seems like a lot of work in some ways. I really enjoy collaborating with other people and I find the most pleasant way to do that is as a session musician...unpaid of course.
DJ: Could you tel us about any new artists that we should give a listen to?
PB:The new Tame Impalas is really good, but I've been mostly listening to old mono 45's from the 50's and 60's.
The Tame ImpalasDJ: If someone cannot attend the Todos Santos Music Festival how can we help to support this cause?
PB:: Visit the Palapa Society for more information about tax deductable donations inside and outside of Mexico..
As all of the artists are generously donating their time at the music festival, it is up to you to support them by buying their record or going to see a live show in your town.
