The band Metallica has launched their own record label, Blackened Recordings, and they have also taken ownership of their master recordings.
This also means that the Metallica now owns the rights to every current album and video that they have recorded. All future recordings will also be released under their label. The band announced the move on their website, according to NME.
According to KOVIDEO, the move signals the end of their relationship with Warner Music Group. Metallica was signed with Warner Music Group for 28 years.
According to HitFix, fans will not have to wait long for a new release, because the band plans releasing "Quebec Magnetic" which is a live concert DVD/Blu-Ray, and it will be released through Blackened Records in less than two weeks.
The band said that forming their own record label allows them to have the ultimate independence and it also allows them to be put right in the driver's seat when it comes to their creative destiny. They also said that they look forward to making more music and getting it out to their fans in their own unique way.
