The online anime, drama, and entertainment oriented website called "Crunchyroll" has launched "Crunchyroll Comics" a new feature that provides a forum for aspiring comic artists to submit their works to the masses.
With the ease of Internet access combined with the growing number of people that utilize its resources, the Internet has become a valuable resource and hub of information. With websites such as Deviant Art, it has helped aspiring artists get noticed. With social media websites such as YouTube and Facebook, online users can become Internet sensations. One recent example with YouTube is the Korean hip-hop artist PSY becoming a sensation through his song called “Gangnam Style.” The Internet has become a place where people can watch their favorite TV shows and movies. If you enjoy watching anime, there are websites where you can watch it.
For those that have a Playstation 3, one can download the application called “Neon Stream” and watch select anime titles. If you are using the Internet in general, you can use Netflix; but, that requires a monthly fee. To watch anime for free and legally, you can go onto websites such as “Crunchyroll” where you have can get a free or paid membership account. Now, Crunchyroll has just launched “Crunchyroll Comics.” However, this new feature is different from websites such as Marvel Comics which allows you to read Marvel comics online or the other online sites which have scans of various manga titles.
Crunchyroll Comics provides aspiring artists to upload their own comic books, manga, and graphic novels. Thus, aspiring comic artists and writers have a forum to present their works. In this regard, you can create enough Internet buzz with your works and perhaps a major publisher might be interested in picking up your work.
You, the reader or the artist, have options on how you read or present the comics. If you're an aspiring comic book artist, then Crunchyroll Comics may be something for you. Be sure to copyright your works first.
From the Crunchyroll website, it's currently working with selected creators and submissions at the moment. An online application form is available to fill out if you are up to submitting any of your comic works to the website.
