Lynn - A Massachusetts man received a citation for operating an unsafe vehicle after the brakes failed on his truck. He was run over by his own truck after he fell out of it while trying to stop the vehicle with his foot.
The Huffington Post reports that Brian Reynolds, 40, lost control of his 1987 Chevy on Monday when the brakes failed while driving down a small hill.
According to Jalopnik, Reynolds stuck his foot out of the driver's side of the truck and dragged it on the ground in an attempt to slow the vehicle. He fell out of the truck when the vehicle turned right which resulted in the truck running over his left leg.
Police found Reynolds and the truck a short time later after the accident was reported. The truck had safely crashed into a fire hydrant.
As an insult to injury, police issued Reynolds a $35 traffic ticket for operating an unsafe vehicle.
This is not the first case of someone being run over by their own vehicle under bizarre circumstances. KFOX reports of a September, 2011 incident where a Texas man was run over by his truck after stepping on the gas with his vehicle inadvertently in reverse. The driver's side door was open and the man was flung from the vehicle. Police suspect alcohol was involved.
