On December 7, the Nintendo Wii Mini will be available in stores across Canada. However, there is no backwards compatibility with the Gamecube.
On December 7, only in stores across Canada, Nintendo's Wii Mini will be available on sale for $99.99. This comes out just in time for the Christmas shopping season. When it comes out, one might be able to get that for Christmas. However, it's unknown how successful the Wii Mini will be. This is due to the Nintendo Wii U console already being out in the market. Keep in mind that the Wii Mini will only be available in stores across Canada.
The main difference between the Wii Mini and the Nintendo Wii is that the former is smaller than the latter. In appearances, the Wii Mini will come in black with a red border. So far, the Wii Mini will work with most Wii accessories. However, there are drawbacks to the Wii Mini which have been addressed by Nintendo. The two drawbacks are that there is no Internet connectivity and there is no backwards compatibility with the Nintendo Gamecube. That means you cannot play online games with it nor can you play Gamecube games on it. This is strictly for Nintendo Wii games only.
Still, there are plenty of Nintendo Wii games out there.
