New York - The feature-length HBO special promises to give viewers an "intimate" look at Beyonce's life. It will include personal home movies of her as a child, along with her journey from a young singer to the pop icon she is today.
HBO is calling this a “multi-faceted portrait” of Beyonce. HBO President of Programming, Michael Lombardo explains it this way.
“Everybody knows Beyonce’s music, but few know Beyonce the person. Along with electrifying footage of Beyonce on-stage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.” reports that the special is slated to premiere on February 16, 2013, airing about two weeks after Beyonce’s Super Bowl XLVII halftime performance on February 3. It will include personal footage, parts of which were shot by Beyonce herself on her laptop, as well as vintage home movies from her childhood growing up Houston, Texas. It is expected to profile the singer's journey from young girl to the pop icon she is today, and follow her as she formulates the next phase of her life, following the birth of daughter Blue Ivy back in January.
The Spin website reports that Beyonce will discuss celebrity, performing, and motherhood. She's expected to touch on her decision to fire her ex-manager and father, Matthew Knowles, and reveal how she handles the demands of being a businesswoman, pop icon, live performer, and new mom.
The MTV website explains that Beyonce is no stranger to televised events. She has starred in several concert specials, including 2010's "I Am ... World Tour" and 2011's "Live at Roseland." She also starred in the MTV documentary "Year of 4" in 2011, which tracked the singer during her recording of her 4-album release that year. Beyonce made her debut as a director with the the video for the 2009 single "Ego"
The website, Biography reports that Beyonce Knowles was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas and first captured the public's eye as the lead singer of the R&B group Destiny's Child. She later left the group and became one of music's top-selling artists with sold-out tours and awards. Knowles also starred in several films, including Dream Girls.
