On Saturday evening, over $25 million in prizes were given out to winners of various prize levels, however, there were no lucky winners for the $325 million Powerball jackpot.
The jackpot has not had a winner in over two months and the prize has now risen to a record-breaking $425 million, reported
Reuters.
Mary Neubauer, Iowa Lottery spokeswoman, told the media that the winnings could even increase by Wednesday's drawing since sales
tend to rise once the jackpot gets to high levels.
"We'll watch sales to see if an adjustment upwards needs to be made," she said.
The winning Powerball numbers for Saturday night were 22-32-37-44-50, with the Powerball number, 34. The jackpot is said to have a $278.3 million cash value, notes the
Powerball website.
Forty-two U.S. states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands participate in Powerball.
The highest Powerball prize ever awarded was $365 million in 2006 after eight ConAgra Foods workers shared a winning ticket that was purchased in Nebraska.
