article imageBritish Islamists train for jihad in Syria at Lebanese camp

A Syrian born radical Islamic cleric who lived in the U.K. for almost 20 years before being banned in 2005, is training British born Islamic extremists for jihad in Syria, in a Lebanese training camp.
Not only is Omar Bakri Mohammed banned from the U.K., he is also banned from leaving Lebanon, where he is on bail, for 30 years. The Salafist cleric has links to al-Qaeda and praised the 9/11 attacks. Now he is busy training Islamic terrorists for jihad in Lebanon.
Naharnet reported Bakri boasted of his “military-style courses for Islamic fanatics on the lawless border with Lebanon.” He is currently training four British born extreme Islamists that all have professional backgrounds in the U.K. Bakri said “After their training they will do their duty of jihad (holy war) in Syria and maybe Palestine."
In January the Telegraph reported Bakri al-Qaeda were ready to help to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al Assad. He said al-Qaeda would use suicide bombings in Syria, adding: "Al-Qaeda are so clever, they can make so many weapons from nothing. They can go to any kitchen, make a very nice pizza bomb and deliver it fresh."
Islamic extremists from many countries are fighting in Syria, funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Digital Journal reported extreme Islamists have "rejected the recently formed Syrian opposition National Coalition and announced their intent to form an Islamic state in the war-torn country."
Some European nations are in favour of providing weapons the recognized Syrian opposition. However there are no safeguards that such weapons would not fall into the hands of extremists.
