article imageOp-Ed: 15,000 march for Gaza in London

By Alexander Baron     Nov 25, 2012 in Politics
London - Yesterday, an estimated 15,000 people marched through London from Downing Street to the Israeli Embassy in solidarity with the people of Gaza.
The Stop-the-War Coalition reported 10-15,000 people attending this march. As usual, the figures given by the organisers are to be treated with some reservation, but there can't have been many less as can be seen from the photographs and videos. The Israeli Embassy is based in Kensington, which is some distance from Downing Street, so the enthusiasm of the protesters is not to be underestimated.
More information can be found on the Stop-the-War website. Earlier in the week, the left wing Independent columnist Owen Jones appeared on the BBC's Question Time programme where he delivered an assault on Zionist Imperialism every bit as ferocious as that of the Israelis themselves.
Now that a ceasefire has at last been brokered - almost certainly by the US acting behind the scenes - perhaps this decades long travesty of justice can be sorted out once and for all without any further blood being spilled, on either side.
