Bristol - Despite rescue attempts from the emergency services, a driver trapped in his car died after heavy rains and flood water swept the man and his 4x4 down stream.
Daily Mail online reports that a man has died after becoming trapped in his car during the torrential rains and floods that have been sweeping across the UK.
The incidence happened in the south west of England in Chew Stoke, Somerset, last night.
After recovering the man from the 4x4, fire crews and police tried to release the vehicle that had been swept under a bridge but had to wait until daylight. The man was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital..
Both the Daily Mail and The Independent both report that officials this morning were still working to identify the driver and his next of kin.
