Fort Pierce - Apparently using the excuse "God made me do it", does not work in one Florida community, as one woman found out after being stopped for speeding.
On Tuesday, Melissa Miller, a 41-year-old woman from Port St. Lucie Fla, was stopped by police in Fort Pierce, Fla after they observed her driving a silver Toyota, honking her for at least 10 seconds and waving her arm out the window. Officers attempted to stop Miller, but she sped up, swerving in and out of traffic, striking two vehicles.
Once she finally stopped, officers asked her why she was going so fast. Miller told officers:
"Because I was letting the Lord's spirit guide me, and the Lord's was telling me to {honk the horn}"
Police didn't accept the excuse and charged her with reckless driving and speeding according to MSN.com. Charges of violation of probation are also pending due to Miller leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries.
Miller is currently still being held in the St. Lucie jail pending a $350 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday according to the St. Lucie Sheriffs Department.
