Parents from Flagler County, Florida decided to follow the path of publicly shaming their daughter as a means to stop her potentially criminal behavior.
A CNN video, briefly for almost two minutes, followed a family from Flagler County, Florida. It was a girl with her mother and father. The girl, Jasmine, was forced by to hold one of those signs by the corner of the road. It's a step taken by an increasing number of parents to keep their children from walking a path of crime and eventually ending up in prison. Jasmine, throughout the video, kept her face covered the whole time. The said started out with “JASMINE.” Below her name, it said “I SNEAK BOYS IN AT 3AM AND DISRESPECT MY PARENTS AND GRAND PARENTS.”
Jasmine expressed defiance and so forth. With this respect, parents are taking the “tough love” path. But, Jasmine said that this isn't love at all. In the video, it turned out that it was her father's idea. The father justified it saying that if it doesn't stop Jasmine's behavior, she could end up going to court. He talked about how this is the parents taking action before the courts end up taking action. Response from bystanders and drivers were mixed. Some people thought that this could blow up in the parents' face.
The question is: How will this proactive response work in the future? In this respect, how will Jasmine respond in the future after being publicly shamed?
Keep in mind that Jasmine is not the first kid to go through this. It's highly like she won't be the last kid to go through public shaming by the parents', guardians, etc.
