Real Madrid's soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo has donated the Golden Boot he won in 2011, worth $1.5 million, in aid of the children of Gaza.
According to the Arabic version of the club's Classico network, the star forward has given the Golden Boot to the Real Madrid Foundation, which has, in turn, sold the award at auction, and is donating the funds to schools in Gaza.
Various reports show that the Real Madrid Foundation has helped to build 167 schools in 66 countries.
This gesture is not something new to Ronaldo, who last year sold most of his sports shoes at a Real Madrid Foundation auction aimed at raising funds for schools in Gaza.
Ronaldo is one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. After moving from Manchester United to Real Madrid he is now paid €12 million per year.
