Jerusalem - The miltary wing of Hamas, Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, promised there would be a surprise today and there was. They fired a rocket nicknamed kassam M76 at Jerusalem early this evening. The rocket fell into open ground and no injuries were reported.
Ynet reports that Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat urged the capital's residents to continue their routine life and obey Home Front Command orders.
"The municipality is prepared for all scenarios, and the public bomb shelters are ready in case we need to open them," Barkat said.
Ynet news and Israel national radio reported heavy firing continuing in the south today, three IDF soldiers were moderately injured.Tel Aviv was also targeted and areas surrounding Jerusalem.
On Twitter President Shimon Peres tweeted:
"No-one doubts the justification of the operation–We cannot abandon women & children to the madness of Hamas."
"Those who preach to us about morality should offer an alternative way to stop the rocket fire from Hamas."
