article imageJustin Bieber nabs 5 People's Choice Awards nominations

By Tim O'Brien     Nov 15, 2012 in Entertainment
Beverly Hills - As the People's Choice Awards once again clutter up the process of picking winners, the key to them is the word 'favorite'. Justin Bieber leads all with 5 nominations.
The awards were never designed to award the best of the past year, but rather to gauge what people judge to be their favorites. And that is a big difference. Just take a look at the complete list below and that will be very clear. Take, for example, the categories involving new TV comedies and dramas. They simply throw most of them in there. Yes, the people vote for the categories first and then this is the result. They vote in September with only a few new episodes to digest. They are voting for the possibility that they will be their favorites, if, of course, they are still on.
The movie that would win among those who vote on these things apparently did not make the cut as it is only being released now, as on Nov. 16. That movie is "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2." This glaring omission or rule problem makes no sense.
It is also an award show that has seen better days and with all these categories, seem to step on each other. Perhaps these should be retired. Another one that could be retired after celebrating 40 this year, are The American Music Awards, which will be handed out Sunday, Nov. 18.
As for the People's Choice Awards, they will have to wait until Jan. 9. The nominations were announced this morning (Nov. 15) at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills.
