A new Pepsi drink, called 'Pepsi Special,' is now available in Japan, claiming to contain a special 'fat blocking' ingredient to assist with weight loss.
Suntory, the distributor for Pepsi in Japan, says the beverage is supposed to contain dextrin, a form of dietary fibre.
As the company's website states, adding the ingredient helps to reduce the amount of fat absorbed into the body, hence the new soda's 'fat-blocking' claim.
However, to some health experts, soda is still
soda.
PepsiCo still has to verify the
health claims , according to reports, but since dietary fiber is generally known to help with breaking down dietary fats, the findings made in Japan are technically true, thus far.
