The cellphone market is still booming isn't it? In the last 8 months, over 850 million cellphones have been sold world-wide with Samsung leading the way in mobile device sales and Android shooting up the tables as the favoured operating system.
Back in August, Gartner Market Analysis and Statistics reported that in the second quarter of 2012 close to 420 million mobile devices were sold. This figure was down by over 2% on the same period 2011. Of these figures smartphone devices accounted for over 36.7% of all mobile device sales with Samsung taking the lead over Apple in smartphone sales. as TechCrunch show Android was the leading operating system, doubling its end users from previous years figures..
Today TechCrunch report that Gartner's new statistics show although third quarter's sales have improved over the second quarter - 449 million phones sold as compared to 419 million - sales are still down on last year's figures. Samsung and Android are still leading the field in the choice for mobile device and operating systems.
