Fresno - This Sunday, do-it-yourself film innovators Dumb Drum of Fresno, California released their latest "Sweded" trailer to the public. This time their inspiration was the trailer for Marvel Studios upcoming Iron Man 3 movie.
Dumb Drum - the Fresno California team behind Swede Fest – launched their newest “Sweded” trailer on November 11, 2012. This time they have recreated a shot-for-shot remake of the new Iron Man 3 trailer.
Slated for a May 3, 2013 release Iron Man 3's high end CGI is replaced with ingenuity, and press lights. The orchestral score is replaced with fun, playful doo-wop style vocables. The media buzz for this remake has been significant.
Nextmovie.com rationalizes that it could be because the DIY genre of film is perfect for a DIY billionaire superhero:
If there's a Marvel hero who most inspires a DIY approach to all endeavors, it's Tony Stark.
Hopefully, this new presentation by Dumb Drum inspires more “Sweded” films. With sister festivals in Tampa Bay, and Palm Beach their is a growing interest for this genre of film.
- The term “Sweded” Film comes from Michel Gondry's, “Be Kind Rewind.” The term is used to describe micro-budget DIY film remakes.
