Slowly, Asian hip-hop artists have been infiltrating the American mainstream. One of the most recent groups was the Far East Movement with one of its songs featuring Dev called “Light A G6.” This became very popular at bars and night clubs in North America. Far East Movement had another song called “Lights Out” used for the all-girl fighter commercial for the recently released “Tekken Tag Tournament 2” available for the Playstation 3 and upcoming Nintendo Wii U.
After Far East Movement, you have the Korean rapper Psy which his music video “Gangnam Style.” The song and dance style has become popular across the world. It has even made it to the American mainstream. It would be a matter of time before the Gangnam Style craze would make it to the United States elections, especially the presidential race between Democratic incumbent Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney. So far, there are videos available that say “Romney Style” or “Obama Style.”
Earlier today, Election Day, Obama was asked about the craze. However, Obama hadn't seen the video in the past. After watching it for the first time, Obama expressed confidence that he might be able to pull it off. If re-elected, Obama implied he wouldn't do it at the inauguration. But, he did implied he'd give his wife, Michelle, a private Gangnam Style dance display.
If Romney gets elected, will he be doing any Gangnam Style dancing?
