Washington - The results are starting to come in from across the United States. The first set of polls show a dead heat race between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney. There are several tight battles still remaining.
President Obama is slated to win re-election.
Polls have begun to close in the U.S. and several states are starting to report their results. Former Governor Mitt Romney has won the states of Alabama (9), Arizona (11) Arkansas (6), Georgia (16), Idaho (4), Indiana (11), Kansas (6), Kentucky (8), Louisiana (8), Mississippi (6), Missouri (10), Montana (3), Nebraska (5), North Carolina (15), North Dakota (3), South Dakota (3), Oklahoma (7), South Carolina (9), Tennessee (11), Texas (38), Utah (6), Washington (12) West Virginia (5) and Wyoming (3).
President Obama has been declared the winner in California (55), Connecticut (7), Delaware (3), District of Columbia (3), Hawaii (4), Illinois (20), Iowa (6) Maine (4), Maryland (10), Massachusetts (11), Michigan (16), Minnesota (10) New Hampshire (4) New Jersey (15), New York (29), Ohio (18), Pennsylvania (20), Rhode Island (4), Vermont (3) and Wisconsin (10).
The Republican Party will retain control of the House of Representatives. The Democrats will hold control of the Senate.
