The Twilight Saga actor Jackson Rathbone has announced that his first solo album will be released on iTunes later this month.
Rathbone is featured in the latest issue (November 2012) of Glow, the Thailand-based fashion and lifestyle magazine.
In the interview, Rathbone spoke about his love for both acting and music. “Acting and music are two very different yet similar forms of art. Sometimes I feel as if I’m in a chimera in that I cannot separate those forms of art. I will continue to act and make music concurrently as long as I breathe,” he said.
Since 2005, Rathbone has appeared in a number of television shows, including Close to Home, The O.C. and Beautiful People. His films include the horror movies Pray for Morning (2006), Hurt (2009) and Dread (2009). However, it’s for his role in the Twilight films – as the vampire Jasper Hale – that he is best known.
For four years, Rathbone was a member of 100 Monkeys, during which time the American band released four albums as well as a number of singles. However, earlier this year, he and fellow band member Jerad Anderson left amicably, “Due to demands on their personal lives and professional careers.”
Now, fans are eagerly awaiting Rathbone’s solo album, Billy Badass, which, the 27-year-old star tells Glow, “will be put out on iTunes around the first week of November”.
Rathbone was born in Singapore, though his parents – Randee Lynn and Monroe Jackson Rathbone IV – are both American. His name boasts plenty of heritage: Monroe Jackson Rathbone II (once chairman of Standard Oil of New Jersey) was his great-grandfather; he is distantly related to the American Civil War Confederate General Stonewall Jackson; and he is a third cousin of the British actor Basil Rathbone, who famously played Sherlock Holmes in the 1930s and 40s.
Although this year saw the release of the final Twilight Saga film, Jackson Rathbone has a number of other movies in production, including Michael Kristoff’s Live at the Foxes Den (2012) and Arnold Chun’s Rodeo Drive Diva (2013).
