Taguig - Bonifacio High Street was filled with all things German as the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Inc. (GPCCI) held its annual Mabuhay Germany event.
For its 5th year, the GPCCI decided to go with the theme “Step Forward + Have Fun.” They decided on this theme as their way to demonstrate the commitment of the German community in the Philippines to promote a better and more enjoyable life for Filipinos.

Various booths set up across the venue showcased a comprehensive collection of products and services from well-known German brands that have branched out in the country. Among them include BASF Philippines, Inc., Bayer Philippines, Inc., Lufthansa German Airlines, and the German Embassy Manila during the first day of the event.
At the center of the venue was an al fresco dining area filled with concessionaires serving traditional German favorites, from sausages to sauerkraut, German beer and fine German wine.
The event was formally opened with a short program held during an exclusive gala dinner attended by distinguished guests from the European Union member states, representatives from the different German businesses based in the Philippines, GPCCI members, and members of the press.

In his speech, he focused on the efforts and achievements of the organization in the past year, as well as the current projects the organization has lined up for this year. One of which is the rollout of the GPCCI Night High Scholarship Program where they will award scholarships for underprivileged Filipino teens. By the time of the Mabuhay Germany 2012 event, 45 scholarships have already been awarded to students from schools in Quezon City, Taytay, Rizal, and San Juan del Monte, Bulacan.
Dr. Joachim Heidorn, the German Ambassador to the Philippines, was also given the opportunity to give a short speech congratulating the entire German community in the Philippines for their efforts to improve the quality of life for Filipinos by promoting not just their products and services, but their culture and heritage as well.

Filipino classical group “Frankie and Friends” provided the entertainment to the attendees of the Mabuhay Germany 2012 event later that evening.
