article imageGuitar Legends announce new tours

By Alexander Baron     Nov 2, 2012 in Entertainment
Two of the world's most innovative guitarists have announced new tours. Joe Satriani is taking on the world; Mark Knopfler is keeping it low key in the UK.
One of today's tabloids contains a number of advertisements for tours by music industry names. For rock fans, the big ones are Joe Satriani and Mark Knopfler.
Satriani is known as a guitar virtuoso par excellence; if you haven't already, check out his third album, the 1989 masterpiece Flying In A Blue Dream, and if you get the chance, tune in to The Forgotten (Part 2) while running along Blackpool seafront in the dark with the waves crashing on the rocks. Oh man!
Currently, the man from SongFacts has seven Satriani tracks in his database.
Mark Knopfler exploded onto the rock scene in 1978 as front man for Dire Straits with Sultans Of Swing and his own unique guitar style, although this was not the first Dire Straits track to find its way onto vinyl. More recently he has carved out a successful solo career; his 2004 song 5.15am is about the murder of Angus Sibbet.
Knopfler is currently in the United States but will be in Toronto on November 14 - David Silverberg take note!
Satriani will be in the UK on his World Tour 2013 from June where he will begin with the Manchester 02 Apollo on the 8th.
Knopfler will begin his short UK tour An Evening With Mark Knopfler And His Band in Glasgow slightly earlier on May 17. The second date will be Newcastle the following night. Knopfler was born at Glasgow and grew up in Newcastle, so there must be another story there.
