San Luis Obispo - Watch Rich Ferguson perform a frightful "head drop illusion" trick. Imagine walking down a narrow lane. You stand aside for a man who pauses for a sneeze. He sneezes so hard that his head falls off his shoulders, then calmly tries to fix it back.
Well, that is what happened to several residents of San Luis Obispo, California, when magician Rich Ferguson treated them to his special Halloween "head drop" illusion trick.
The video showing him perform this amazing trick is now a YouTube smash hit with over 4 million views since it was first posted on October 19 under the user name ucmagic with the caption: "My favorite scare, prank, trick!"
The magician explains:
"During the day, this is a great illusion, but during night and in a more vulnerable setting, this freaks people out BIG TIME! Having way too much fun this season with pranks and street magic!"
Ferguson (aka "The Ice Breaker") warns viewers who may be familiar with the procedure for similar tricks, "Please do not confuse this illusion with the somewhat popular prank/gag of shoving your jacket up via different methods. Rich does not shove his jacket up during this illusion/prank."
The reactions of the "victims" of this ingenious trick are interesting to watch. Women scream in shock but recover with a laugh when they realize it is a trick. Children simply take to their heels. But everyone is puzzled over how he pulls off this awesome trick.
But of course, Ferguson won't tell, magicians never do.
He comments: "Having way too much fun this season with pranks and street magic. Watch out, we are coming for you!"
