New York - An attorney for a New York City man claims that the Archdiocese of New York did not show compassion for their client when a freak accident necessitated the loss of a limb.
David Jimienez and his wife Delia are both devotees of the Roman catholic church.
When Delia was diagnosed with cancer her husband began to pray daily near a 600 pound marble crucifix at St. Patrick's cathedral.
After her cancer went into remission, Jimienez asked the priest in charge of the church if he could clean the statue as a gesture of gratitude for the divine intervention.
While cleaning the religious icon the statue toppled over crushing his leg, which subsequently had to be removed by amputation.
His lawyer has filed a suit alleging damages to the tune of $3 million.
