Successful both as an actress and as a musician, Gavankar landed roles in TV shows like The League, The L Word
and The Gates
, and she is now one of the stars in True Blood
. Her innovative music is captivating, intriguing and utterly unpredictable.
The concept of "Waiting for Godot" stems from Samuel Beckett’s famous eponymous play. Waiting for a man who never comes represents an “unrequited something.” In this case it's love. Gavankar juggles cleverly with a fully fledged electro pop, mesmerizing vocals and abundant strings.
The visually stunning video, which was shot soon after True Blood
’s fifth season was a wrap, is produced by Gavankar and explores the duality in herself as she told Billboard
, where the video premiered. It was directed by Caitlin Pashalek who also worked with the musician on “Love Lockdown.”
Randy Jackson backs up Gavankar’s soon to be released EP and, according to Artist direct
, each song sounds different. “One feels like a sculpture. One feels like a painting. One feels like f**king cross-stitch. They all feel different. I have no idea which songs will make the EP,” elaborated the artist.
Not someone to follow the norms and make a goal out of being famous, Gavankar makes the music she wants to make, and is happy with her indie operations as long as she has full creative control over them.
