While Justin Bieber has not commented on an internet hoax that he has cancer, long-time bodyguard, Kenny Hamilton tweeted "no" when asked if it was true. It's not known who started the rumor, but it may have led to some fans shaving their heads.
It began with a posting from the message board '4 Chan' on Tuesday, Oct. 23 that had a picture of two young females with bald heads, one holding a message written on paper that reads 'bald for bieber' on it. Below those photos there's a photo-shop of a tweet purportedly from Entertainment Tonight (it wasn't from ET) that says: "Pop star Justin Bieber was diagnosed with cancer earlier this morning. Bieber fans are shaving their heads to show their support."
Bieber bodyguard Hamilton: "No"
Below the fake tweet announcing the (untrue) Bieber cancer story was another fake tweet, this one pretending to be from the 18-year-old pop star himself. It read: "Several of my AWESOME supporters are shaving their heads to help get me through this! I love my fans!"
Whether any fans actually shaved their heads after reading the material, or even believed the hoax, isn't known, and a scouring of the internet did not find any concrete examples suggesting fans were fooled. A fan did tweet Kenny Hamilton, Bieber's long-time bodyguard, asking if the Biebs has cancer and Hamilton simply tweeted back "no."
Bieber is currently on his 'Believe' tour and plays in St. Louis on Saturday night. On Tuesday night a very healthy-looking Bieber - multiple sites reported he displayed some strong looking pecs - played two sold-out shows in Chicago.
