article imageCashing in on the election with crazy presidential goodies

By Katerina Nikolas     Oct 26, 2012 in Politics
As election fever grips the nation astute companies cash in with cool memorabilia associated with the presidential candidates. From Romney condoms to Obama hot air spray, the cool voter is spoilt for choice.
While both presidential candidates have official stores for election goodies, their most daring items tend to lean towards pet apparel.
Bumper stickers and lapel pins in support of Barack Obama or Mitt Romney are quite tame in the scheme of flamboyant election accessories.
After all, what home would be complete without a life size cardboard cutout of the favored presidential election candidate? Not just for election night, a corrugated cardboard figure of Mitt Romney can enhance any gathering as long as it isn't left out in the rain.
Romney fans may also get a kick out of aiming a punch at the Obama Bop Punching Tower, a vinyl punching bag adorned with the president's image.
Political humor reaches new bounds with a selection of Romney or Obama toilet paper. The joke is on the shopper who is willing to spend an exorbitant $17.95 on a roll of political toilet paper. Spendthrifts can even splash out on a can of Obama hot air spray, containing nothing but hot air.
Politics can even intrude on the privacy of the bedroom with Romney or Obama condoms, guaranteed to put a damper on any occasion.
Surprisingly the trend of political gift items has now spread in popularity beyond the U.S. It is hard to imagine that few would not warm to the Angela Merkel face mask, perfect for undecided American voters.
