In case of a Turkish attack against Syria's Kurds the Turkish based Kurdish PPK militant group has stated that it will initiate violent reprisals in Turkey.
AFP and
NOW Lebanon quote the head of the PPK Murat Karayilan as stating that, "Turkey should stay out of this conflict and stop its scheming." He went on to state that his organizations "feels solidarity with all Kurds and we will support the Syrian Kurds. If the Turkish army attacks them... we will carry out very violent reprisals on Turkish territory."
The PPK is outlawed as a terrorist organization in Turkey and is listed as such in the United States and the European Union.
Fighting between the PPK and the Turkish military has escalated in the past few months following a breakdown in talks between the Turkish government and the Kurdish organization.
