Las Vegas - Hold on to the trophy case, the American Country Awards are coming soon. With it comes more award confusion and, well, overkill.
The American Country Awards announced their nominations today (Oct. 10), a day after the American Music Awards, did the same. The one thing both have in common is the word American in the title. Actually, they have something else in common. It comes in the form of a question as in - - are these necessary? Or worse yet, are they redundant, as in American and Country followed by Awards? For the same idea as the American Music Awards, head here.
The American Country Awards, in its third year, follow the Academy of Country Music Awards and the Country Music Association Awards - all have so many of the same categories, that one would deem the ACAs not worthy of all this play.
Anyway, Luke Bryan leads with seven while Lady Antebellum and Zac Brown Band have six nominations apiece.
By the way, in keeping pace, the ACAs decided to also add a Song of the Year category to recognize country music's top songwriters. Not a bad move considering Nashville is so well known for that aspect.
The ACAs air Monday, Dec. 10 live from Las Vegas on Fox. It will be hosted by Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth.
