"You should be ashamed" is the message Anonymous hackers sent to the Greek government, as it attacked government websites in what it called a show of solidarity with the Greek people.
Timed to coincide German Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to Athens, Anonymous posted a YouTube video criticizing the elaborate security measures and curfew taken to safeguard Merkel, comparing the government to the Greek Junta.
Ekathimerini reported Anonymous used the tag-line #OpSolidarityGreece to publicise their attack on Twitter. According to Ta Nea government sites that were attacked included the Ministry of Public Order and Protection Ombudsman, the Police, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In September Digital Journal reported Anonymous disabled the New York website of Greek political party Golden Dawn. The website remains down.
