To think that Rovio's Angry Birds could not get any more popular, a major makeover was announced that the hugely popular mobile game will have its version of the Star Wars saga.
Launching on November 8th is Angry Birds: Star Wars, and iconic characters from Star Wars - Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, Darth Vader - are expected to hit off with Angry Birds' fluffy bird characters.
In an Entertainment Weekly report, CMO of Rovio Entertainment Peter Vesterbacka stated, "This is the best Angry Birds game we’ve ever done. It’s the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge game play set in a galaxy far, far away. As a big Star Wars fan myself, I’m really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one."
While gaming fans wait for the game's release in November, Angry Birds: Star Wars merchandise items will be available early on October 28th in Toys "R" Us stores, just in time for Halloween. Pre-orders at is ongoing for the October 28th release of Angry Birds: Star Wars app-themed toys and costumes.
Franchise development's Vice-President Ville Heijari thought, "Star Wars would make the most sense, adding that the new game is really meant for the fandom, both Angry Birds and Star Wars."
The game will be available in multiple media environments. Operating systems like iOS, Android, Amazon's Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone, and Windows 8 are all participating platforms.
