article imageMid flight emergency procedures results in marriage proposal

By Greta McClain     Oct 6, 2012 in Internet
Chicago - In what may be one of the most unique and imaginative proposals on record, the pilot of a 2 person plane proposes to his girlfriend during a mid flight emergency.
Ryan Thompson took his girlfriend Carlie Kennedy for what seemed to be nothing more then a nice plane ride near Chicago. During the trip something appeared to go wrong and Thompson told Kennedy: "Honey, I need you to stay calm. The flight controls aren't working."
Thompson remained calm and told Kennedy she needed to read the emergency checklist to him. According to Inquisitr, the checklist read in part: Initiate the ring engagement procedure…
Pilot in command. Determine if he is a good mate. Note: he will always love and honor you.
Will you marry me?
Once Kennedy reached the end of the check list, Thompson pulled out an engagement ring. Finally realizing their was no emergency, Kennedy began to cry and answered with a simple "yes".
Just prior to Thompson informing Kennedy of the "emergency" the plane appears to shake and lose altitude slightly. According to the The Chicago Sun Times Kennedy's mother, Sherri, said: “Let’s just say her dad cannot watch the video with that look on her face.”
When asked if the was angry about the faux emergency Kennedy replied: “I was never angry, not even for a second.”
The video, which has received more then 3.6 million views in less then 2 weeks, has gone viral. According to Viral Video Chart, the video has had 139,995 Facebook shares and 3,506 Twitter shares.
As of publication, no date has been set yet for the wedding.
