article imageAnti-austerity heats up in the UK

By Alexander Baron     Oct 5, 2012 in Politics
London - There have been big protests against so-called austerity in Greece and Spain. Now the movement is getting its act together in the UK with meetings and demonstrations.
There is a rally on Tuesday next week organised by Camden Trades Council; it takes place from 7pm to 9pm in Central London. On November 17 there is an all day conference being held by Unite The Resistance, again in Central London. A planning meeting for this was held on July 21 at University of London Union, Malet Street, a venue that appears to be popular also with the Mind Sports Olympiad and the Stop the War Coalition. The November meeting is being held near Victoria. Check the website for details and booking. There will be representatives from both Egypt and South Africa, in the news recently for all the wrong reasons, so this looks like being a big event, and one that won't please the Coalition Government.
