article image14 cows killed after hit by passenger train in Denmark

By Owen Weldon     Oct 1, 2012 in World
Police in Denmark are saying that a group of cows have been killed after they ended up wandering onto train tracks and got hit by a train.
A total of 14 cows were killed, according to The Star. Police say that the accident occurred on Sunday in western Denmark, no one aboard the train suffered injuries.
According to Courier Mail, five cows died as soon as the train struck them. The other nine cows were put down.
According to Windsor Star, for several hours train service in the area was suspended while police investigated the scene.
As of now, police say that they believe that a fence that was designed to keep cows in their grazing area ended up falling into disrepair, allowing the cows to leave their grazing area.
